Your seat at the table

As the Lab Technician, you will execute Shearer’s company sample request. This involves working on multiple projects all on a very tight timeline. The ability to organize and prioritize is a must. This role works with a number of cross functional groups including commercialization, sales, and R&D. Clear communication is also a must.

  •  Perform work on multiple sample requests, prioritize work and meet expectations and manage very tight deadlines while demonstrating attention to detail
  • Prepare, evaluate, ship all sample requests that will be reviewed internally by cross-functional members of our Shearer’s teams
  • Prepare, evaluate, ship all sample requests that will be reviewed externally by any current and potential customers
  • Work with multiple members of our commercialization team to ensure all timelines for sample requests are met and communicate any concerns that could potentially affect the timelines
  • Perform seasoning evaluations on all incoming new development seasoning projects
  • Work with multiple Shearer’s plants and multiple plant teams- quality assurance and packaging to get plain snack bases pulled that are at ideal targets for appearance, texture, moisture and oil
  • Pull both current seasonings and plain bases that are currently produced at the Millennium plant
  • Responsible for FEDEX shipping of all sample requests and any additional shipping that needs done for the Millennium plant
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure the sample lab is always clean and organized
  • Provide additional support as needed to our cookie/cracker team at our Burlington Iowa and Guelph Canada manufacturing plants
  • Need to have a basic knowledge of allergens, good manufacturing practices and first in, first out programs
  • Need to have proficient math skills like multiplication, division, addition, subtraction and problem solving
  • Must have knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft teams, Excel and Word programs
