The City of North Canton is now hiring a full-time, entry labor position, with full public employee benefits in our Parks & Recreation Department.

The North Canton Parks & Rec Dept. prides itself on providing a clean, safe, and fun environment for all who visit North Canton parks.

This position works as a member of the Parks Team, responsible for cleaning and maintaining 3 large Community Parks, 8 smaller neighborhood parks, Dogwood Swimming Pool, Dogwood Skatepark, Arrowhead Pool & Golf Course, the North Canton Civic/Event Center and the Hoover Recreation/Baseball Complex.  North Canton parks have something for everyone including; playgrounds, basketball, tennis courts, walking track, fishing pond, picnic tables, restrooms and pavilions.

Job Requirements:

1. Experience understanding and following oral and written directions.
2. Experience interacting with public in a polite and tactful manner.
3. Perform assigned tasks in a punctual and satisfactory manner.
4. Work hours are 7am-4pm.  Must arrive on time, on a regular basis, be willing to work some irregular and/or OT hours as needed.
5. Ability to work outside under adverse weather conditions.
6. Perform physical labor, including the ability to carry heavy loads, climb up and down ladders, and climb into and out of holes.
7. Knowledge of basic work zone safety principles and techniques.
8. High school diploma or equivalent required.
9. Valid Ohio driver’s license required.
10. Valid Ohio Class A or B CDL preferred but not required at time of hire.  Must be willing to obtain CDL within 6mos (City Paid).

Prefered Work Characteristics:

1. Any experience with general building maintenance.
2. Painting Experience.
3. Knowledge or experience with mowers & landscaping equipment.
4. General horticulture/landscaping knowledge.
5. Operation & maintenance of manual and power hand tools, power maintenance equipment, four-wheel drive pick–up truck.
6. Ability to perform general maintenance of city grounds, buildings, facilities, and vehicles, including trash removal, janitorial duties and basic landscaping work.
7. Ability to perform snow removal operations, as well as General Street cleaning as needed.
8. Experience and/or ability to perform basic tasks with equipment, including loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks.
